The Leadership Experience · Legacy
A path for the leaders with deep life experience, faith, and a heart to mentor. They do not join a cohort. They come to the LX experience, give from who they are, and stay in the community as mentors to alumni.
The event is the experience. Mentorship and membership are how they stay.
The Legacy Journey
There are two movements. First a deliberately narrow gate that selects the right few. Then a two-year walk where a nominee experiences the community, discerns their desire, and is officially welcomed.
Five steps, narrowing at each stage
Scarcity is the point. A nominee has to clear all five. Most will not, and that is by design.
An alum nominates and cites other alumni who know the person.
Alumni →Screened against the five qualities and the age floor. A short list passes up.
Member Advisory Cmte →Every finalist meets Brian in person. The human gate for fit, posture, and heart.
President →Final selection. The MAC recommends and the Board decides.
Board →Extended an invitation to the LX experience, the opening to the walk.
LXRecommended annual cap: 3 to 5 per year, small enough to stay scarce and personal.
A two-year path to official welcome
A nominee is not welcomed the moment they are selected. They experience the community first, then choose their way in.
Invited in and on-site. They participate alongside the alumni as a full part of the room.
A real chance to know the community and what Legacy asks. They discern fit and the community gets to know them.
Returning is the first real signal. Choosing to show up a second time says more than any application.
A real conversation about desire and what Legacy is. This is where understanding, commitment, and desire get named plainly.
After the conversation, they are welcomed to belong. They stay in the community as a mentor and member, year over year, through the membership ladder.
Three signals to read across the walk, and to name in the Year 2 conversation before we welcome.
They know what Legacy is and what it is not. It is a calling to mentor and steward, not an honorary title or a VIP seat.
They are ready to give their time, wisdom, resources, and presence, and to walk with alumni over the long term.
They want to be in the room. They came back on their own, and their presence is a choice.
The Bar
All qualities are required, not a menu. The gate is deliberately narrow.
Hard floor of age 50 or older. Ages 45 to 50 are considered only by exception, and only when all five qualities are clearly present.
Clarity Up Front
Use this in the framing conversation and in follow-up. Clarity up front keeps the room what it is.
| Legacy IS | Legacy IS NOT |
|---|---|
| A calling to mentor, steward, and embody LX values | An honorary title or a VIP seat |
| A place to belong, with ongoing relationships | A one-time event you attend and forget |
| A high-trust, high-integrity room of leaders | A networking club or a lead-generation channel |
| A way to give time, wisdom, resources, and presence | A product being sold to you |
| Peers walking with alumni, mutual and reciprocal | A stage, an audience, or a place to be marketed to |
Governance & Tracking
The MAC screens, the President interviews, the Board decides. One CRM record per nominee keeps it out of anyone's head.
Front-line screen against the five qualities and the age floor, passing a short list up. It recommends and does not decide. Over time, seated Legacy members are natural additions to the MAC.
Every finalist meets Brian in person before the Board decides. This is the human gate for fit, posture, and heart, placed after the MAC screen and before the Board.
The LX Chief of Staff owns the tracker and moves each record through the stages. Fields include nominated by, citing alumni, MAC verdict and date, interview date, Board vote, and membership status.
A short nomination form, owned by the LX Chief of Staff. Not an email to the President. A form keeps Brian out of raw volume, standardizes every nomination against the five qualities, and starts the tracker automatically. Brian enters later at the interview.
Nominee's name, age, industry and leadership role, and the other alumni who know them (required).
The alum speaks briefly to the five qualities and notes where the nominee has crossed paths with the community.
Submission creates the CRM record at "Nominated." The LX Chief of Staff routes it to the MAC.
Stages 6 to 8 extend the original tracker to follow nominees through the belonging walk, not only selection.
Before & During
A real conversation, not an email. It is led by a nominating alum, or by Brian for the ones that matter most. Say plainly what Legacy is and is not, so the nominee arrives with the right posture and self-selects in or out.
